My practice can be described as intuitive and draws thoughts from everyday life, nature, religions, social constructs, social-political issues, and more. I believe the work is as it is and depends on the viewers' perspective of what it can be. Within my practice, there are no formalities or rules towards the play of research, but rather a spontaneity of actions and play of tensions. This play results in whatever is happening at that precise moment, or what is interesting to me, from sometimes repeating reflective gestures, free-flowing marks, and doodles to expressive marks. The goal is not to have a goal. No agency. This attitude draws me to abstract gestures within art that don't inherently have meaning. These forms can carry a spaciousness within themselves because of their ungraspable/empty nature yet can also create tension. This idea of ungraspableness/emptiness and tension is to me parallel to life. Yet I also try to create familiar feelings within the work itself, a feeling in which the work just makes sense and draws you in, yet also spits you out. As an artist, I see myself as much as a viewer as the viewer sees the art. There is no difference in who creates and who doesn't. The reality of a work of art is in itself created by the observation of the viewer.
